To get to a MIN Server: In your IRC
program, type /server irc.Mistrider.Net. If you are prompted for a port, try
a number between 6667 & 7000
User responsibility: Remember that
you are a guest on this network, and behave accordingly. You are
responsible for your actions, including everything that your script or client, if you run
one, does. If you don't know what your scripts do, learn! It would be a good idea to
disable your scripts, until you learn what is acceptable in the channels you visit. The
administrators are not liable or responsible for the actions of any user on the server.
You agree that you use this server at your own risk. There is no warranty or guarantee of
any user's ability to connect to any server at any time.
General Rules everything on this page is a 'rule' =)
1. No harassing of other users, particularly of younger users by older ones.
2. No cyber sex in open channels of any kind. If you gotta do it, keep it private.
(DCC, /msg)
3. Try to keep cursing to a minimum
4. No Trolling. Trolling - any act where an adult attempts to make real life
contact with a minor,
or impersonates a minor for the purpose of making intimate
contact with a minor.
5. No selling of products or services. Spam-free zone.
Channels: Users are welcome to register their own
channels (subject to approval), or to create temporary channels while on the server,
with the following exceptions:
1. Channels intended for illegal purposes, or as a base for selling of any kind.
Such channels may be purged
and the owners/users banned from the server without prior notice.
2. Channels offering or appearing to offer psychological counseling must be
preapproved, with the stipulation that the manager be a currently
certified practicing professional ... contact any server
administrator for more information.
3. This server is a troll free zone. Trolling will result in an immediate k-line
when brought to the attention of the administrators.
Note: unless we have clear and overwhelming
evidence of inappropriate behavior elsewhere, this rule means MIN servers.
4. The Administration in no way supports or endorses the actions of channel
operators or owners in any matter. Channel content, conflicts, and channel bans (as well as their resolution) are the
sole responsibility of the channel owners or creators,
unless network policies are violated *OR* the channel users ask
for intervention.
Bans: A reason will always be given for a ban, and a copy of the log
showing the offense kept. Most, but not all, first time bans will be for a period of 24
hours or less, and come after a verbal (messaged) warning. Bans of more than 48 hours may
be appealed, however, the decision of the Administrators is final. Channel bans and
their resolution are not the responsibility of the Administration: contact the channel
owner instead. This is a nonexclusive list of banning offenses:
1 Flooding, particularly in the
administration and help areas.
2 IP Spoofing: It is expected that users
will not seek to mask their IP. The software we are using allows for partial masking,
so a users IP is partially masked anyway.
3 Running unapproved bots, or a war bot
of any kind.
4 Nuking, Spinging, ICMP bombing, etc.,
or running a war script with the intention of using its offensive or defensive measures.
Users having
difficulties with other users should see first the channel ops, then the Administration,
for help.
Type /join #help to
find an admin staff member.
5 Running more than 2 connections on the
server per user (cloning) Note: Turn off any clone banning settings on your scripts!
The masking software
can make it appear clones exist where none do. Admins and IRCops will be aware of any true
clones.
6 Bashing, intimidating, or harassing
other users - particularly older users harassing younger ones.
7 This server is a troll free zone.
Trolling will result in an immediate k-line when brought to the attention of the
administrators.
8 Advertising or attempting to sell a
commercial product or site. Promotion of sites is limited to personal homepages or
resource sites.
Ban Appeals should be made in writing by the person banned or a
friend of the banned person who uses the server.
The email addressed to akill@mistrider.net should contain a valid return
email, details of the ban, and a short reason as to why the ban should be lifted.
Ban appeals will be considered by at least 3
admins, including either the Network Admin . Their decision is final, except the Network
Admin can overrule anyone and act independently to ban or unban, provided he gives his
reasons for doing so.
